Today is Worldwide Pinhole Day and this is my contribution !

I needed to get this picture in the bag early, before the hard light from the sun invaded the garden and my photographic plans !

I knew this picture needed soft light , a studio background and a bit of luck to make it happen.

I also needed this well worn “TOXIC” cardboard box !

I’m really happy with this picture and the little surprises that the pinhole technique has thrown into the mix !

This image will probably live on in my ongoing Herd Of One series that records my day to day life during the Covid 19 crisis !

It’s only 9.30am in the UK as I write this and my Worldwide Pinhole Day is over , its not too late for you to join in , this unpredictable less than perfect approach might even put a smile on your face ?

Today’s picture is no more than a window detail of my local pub , strange how this view became more significant to me today ?

I Converted my digital camera into a humble pinhole camera today !

Despite all the techno stuff its good to remember how simple photography can be.

Once I had put my conversion together I had to give it a try ahead of Worldwide Pinhole Day on Sunday !

The set up worked fine eventually, this is just a test shot ! Shot 115, done …

What a day , I thought I had today’s picture in the bag ages ago, then I saw this !

When I say “ I saw this ” I mean I realised the potential of this view and decided to pursue it !

This is more or less as visualised , I received a little help from the workers in the serendipity department, a pair of pink print pajamas and some great light !

Apart from all of the above , this is all my own work !

No digital shenanigans here !

Escaped into a local wood today !

I have never appreciated this place more , the space , the birds and the squirrels made my day .

I did the slow shutter speed blurry tree thing , pulled the zoom during exposure and tried every other trick to make something interesting happen during my photo walk .

I failed, every shot possessed a over familiar, seen it all before vibe .

Then I found this reflection in the pond as is , nothing complicated , I waited and watched, watched and waited and when the breeze stopped I pulled the trigger , no bells or whistles required !

Not the most original of shots on the face of it but its got something ?

No one to photograph , photograph yourself !

Please do not confuse my recent photographic desperation with vanity , these selfies are symbolic of my isolation.

To be honest this is a conceptual capture and I’m very happy with it , the sun did its thing and created the right light and some stunning shadows.

I did my thing and put my shades on , it was very bright !

A view without a queue is today’s Trip Around The Sun capture !

I was surprised by the free access to my local supermarket today, no queue !

I was left with nothing more than the actual social distancing guide lines , a matching bollard and some decent light .

I’ve always been a fan of the letterbox format, the principle of less being more and making the most of what you have , which is just as well

I only just managed to catch the last of today’s sunlight !

I had never noticed this well placed shadow before and how it conspires with the real trees ?

Once again the space in the bottom left looked lonely , a selfie shadow was needed to balance this composition.

I’m quite taken by today’s capture , interesting how frame of mind and daily circumstances effect how you see !

I was searching for ideas in my garden today , my inspiration took the form of this broken sculpture ?

This broken object really resonated with me, it reflects a sadness and symbolises these times.

This grey wet day reflected my mood today !

I had limited expectations of today’s Trip Around The Sun “Masterpiece” , I knew photography would not be easy !

To cut a long shopping trip short I tried shooting this view behind rain splattered glass and got this !

I have been pleasantly surprised by the sad atmosphere created here.

I have to confess to being a photographer wearing at least two hats !

I wear my “Trip Around “ hat everyday and my pandemic “Herd ” hat most days , I mention it tonight because I felt conflicted as I made tonight’s picture choice .

This picture has a foot in each camp , my decision became easier when I realised it was Thursday !

This view will probably vanish when the rain comes , best share it now, or never !

I’m starting to see the different “opportunities” that appear by changing the start time of my lockdown walks .

Today’s pic is a goody, even if I say so myself !

It is another “view from a queue” but this one has a timeless spacious vibe, a Abstract Street feel !

I suspect this view will live on as part of my “Herd Of One” project and join the other 59 that already live there .

I have to admit to liking the light of the lockdown period , I’m enjoying the Spring sunshine and the long shadows .

Using nothing more than a cardboard box, my hand and the beginnings of a concept , I have reflected my frustrations today and feel better for it , I might revisit this idea when freedom returns and better locations are available ?

A bit of Landscape photography !

I took a different route during my lockdown walk today and found this , I have driven past this view many times and never thought of making a picture.

Walking helps you to look and consider views, slowly and quietly , I like quiet views .

I’m always attracted to man made objects in natural settings, especially when they are as graphic as this and I can isolate them !

Social distancing and staying safe have quickly become part of everyone’s everyday , this view was shot against the light .

Not sure how many photographic variations of this queuing scenario exist but I suspect we will all find out !

Once again the light led the way for this shot during my “Hour” !

I enjoyed the walk and enjoyed looking and shooting other pictures too, this is as good as it got during my very narrow window of opportunity.

Seeking out pools of light at home saved my “Trip” today , patriotic socks might not be your thing but the available light is the real subject of this photograph !

I had higher hopes for shot 100 but the restrictions won .

I hate the idea of this view appearing and then dissapearing without being seen !

I feel very fortunate to have seen and photographed this subtle play of light today , I can now share it with you !

As each day of lockdown passes I’m starting to notice more !

I shot this during my “hour of exercise” it has nothing to do with social distancing , lock down or any of the other restrictions , this picture is about looking deeper and appreciating the small important things that I never had time to see before.

At times like this you have to see light wherever you can !
