It’s great when your pictures come out !

Seriously , when your approach becomes experimental the pay off feels bigger , each attempted capture is like a mini adventure and each picture that works feels as if it was created against the odds.

These successful in-camera captures are unrepeatable one offs !

I don’t want to understand and predict the outcomes of these shots as that would spoil the surprise .

I’m enjoying this deliberate camera movement technique, doing it wrong, feels right !

I left my photo session deliberately late today, I was hoping the dregs of light would help me find a shot !

I had no idea what I wanted to shoot or where I wanted it to look , I did know that today’s picture was not going to come to me !

I found this view while I was looking for something else , ordinary locations can become great backdrops for shadows to wrap themselves around .

It’s unusual for me to enjoy a shoot as much as I did today, I usually enjoy the results much more than the photography !

I shot with my new re-found freedom today and failed on a regular basis , it was good fun !

The failures eventually pointed me in the right direction which enabled me to find a couple of captures that surprised me .

Although this location is a great place to be , it is not the most interesting of photographic venues unless you spice up your approach .

Really liking the simplicity, softness and atmosphere of today’s abstract captures , shot no 134 & 134a done …

This Photography thing can be a funny fish ?

Some pictures take on a personality that is much greater than the sum of their parts !

This picture resonates with me much more than it should , the frame before of the same subject did not ?

A quick blast of wind reshaped the red and white tape , it also reshaped how I responded to this frame .

I don’t know how or why this stuff works , if I did I would make better pictures more often ?

Today we are going to make PPE from a old sock !

It might look “Blue Peter” inspired but it might help to keep others safe from you !

Its all gone “Pete Tong” when we are reduced to making face masks out of old socks to try and stay safe !

Happy tog alert !

This picture reinforces my reasons for doing this picture each day thing !

The combination of lockdown & the 365 project makes me reconsider & shoot views I used to walk past .

My photo session today was combined with a essential trip to the pet food warehouse , this capture ticks a lot of boxes for me . It is abstract inspired , covid themed and as found !

I think of it as a serendipitous Mondrian , that was just waiting for me , it is so representative of these times .

This picture will become part of my new pandemic themed project , Herd Community .

When I get bored photographically my in-camera technique becomes a bit Lairy !

Today’s walk around the village was looking even more familiar than it did yesterday and the day before that ,etc

Something had to be done !

The local hairdressing shop caught my eye , even though it was closed this poster inspired me to do my thing .

I had plenty of other captures from today but they did not ring my bell, this one does .

The picture each day challenge really does facilitate the creation of pictures I would never of made, it takes me out of my photographic comfort zone.

This social distancing portrait occurred on the hoof today during my lockdown exercise, you cant beat a bit of sign language !

The red hearts seem surprisingly appropriate here !

What should a lockdown urban landscape look like, I asked myself ?

Emptiness would be a good start but I need more than a missing population before I get the camera out !

I need to plug into the spirit of these times ?

When you pull the camera back on my everyday life very few clues of this crisis appear , the narrative of lockdown life is a private isolated world . It makes my everyday look & feel like a 1970’s Sunday morning !

I was delighted to capture this scene today, it possesses a quiet distant dignity that appeals to me and reflects how grateful I feel , it also looks different to any of my other pandemic era pictures .

Street Photographer captures Street Photograph !

That might not surprise you but it certainly surprised me !

It’s not a masterpiece but it was nice to make a picture with less formality and a bit of creative ambiguity, especially as my local population has almost vanished .

I’m still working on my “Top Secret” lockdown project, it is shaping up nicely and starting to look like a bit of serious work , I’m really happy with the general direction of travel .

I discovered a new location today !

Allow me to rephrase that as that sounds a bit grand ,

I visited a new corner shop today !

I mention it here because I photographed it , I love the way these taped arrows guide shoppers around the store while emitting a sort of over the top, one way crime scene vibe ,

This store might feature again !

I know its not much but this is as good as my life gets in lockdown .

The strength of this image is its simplicity of lines, colour and textures .

Once you get your eye into these abstract studies you can’t stop seeing them, I’m very happy with this one .

They say red and green should never be seen , I’m not sure about that ?

A very ordinary location threw up this surreal unusual view today !

This abstract view has taken me by surprise & taken me somewhere new , not physically sadly !

As the lockdown restrictions continue my walks around the village are becoming more challenging photographically.

I celebrated May Day with a lockdown walk in a local wood today !

Continued the abstract theme and walked on the wild side in every sense !

Doing “IT” wrong feels right to me , I don’t understand how many of these little surprises are created but I know that failure on a industrial scale, increases my success rate.

This technique is great fun but I would rather be shooting Street !

I have enclosed a detail beneath the main view to show the complex details within this in-camera creation.

Today’s picture has a Polaroid lift feel to it , it remindeds me of The Helsinki Bus Station theory !

It also reminded me of how much fun photography can be when you work without a client brief or series theme , the world really is your lobster !

My 365 project is the fun part of my photography these days, my covid lockdown series is going well and progressing at pace but its not a bag of laughs to shoot !

This vinyl Bus Stop sign caught my eye today and has grown into much more than the sum of its parts with a little help from the contrast and saturation sliders .

A bored passenger appears to have carved out one of the bus windows while waiting for the bus , quite symbolic !

Before you can look out of the windows of any bus, you have to GET ON the bus first !

Maintaining the Abstract Expressionist vibe today !

I’ve had my eye on this view for a while, I’ve even tried a couple of frames on rainy flat days , without success .

Today I might of made the best of it ?

I was attracted to these natural scars from climbing plants that once climbed here and the flaking paint !

This image is less than 30 mins old as I write this , it has made a big impact on me in a very short time .

Today’s wet, rainy lockdown photo-walk led me to a unusual photographic destination !

My small world made me look deeper within myself to find visual stimulation, debris on the road reminded me of Kandinsky !

I’m not proud , I’m happy to be “inspired” by the best bits of anyone’s art , I love the way life creates these little pieces of Abstract Expressionism for those of us who are ready to throw a frame around them .

I did not expect to be occupying the footprints of this abstract art pioneer today , when there’s not much to see you have to look within !
