Looking For The Millions !

Those of you who read last weeks blog will be aware that I shot The Peoples Vote March in London last weekend as part of my State Of Britain project . I’m pleased to report the weather and the protesters were both pleasant and warm , I enjoyed the shoot immensely ! I managed to capture a few shots of the march itself but to be honest I was more interested in the quieter shots that could be found on the fringes of the main event.

This view reminded me of a Cold War Steve composition !

This view reminded me of a Cold War Steve composition !

The symbolism of this guy inspecting the rear end of this unicorn caught my eye, it does make me smile ! I know that I shouldn’t be surprised by the surprises real life presents to me , but I am , this is why I still shoot Street ?

I think its important to stay patient and calm despite the chaos of days like this , keep watching and looking, try to see how you can blend the various elements of a scene together , try to see the whole picture and the detail simultaneously !

The takeaway point of this post is encourage others to shoot a alternative narrative, especially when the main event is well covered by other photographers and media, another protest picture is just another protest picture ! , it can pay to find some space and develop your own way of interpreting the days events, maybe add a little humour ! . My solution is quite often to escape the maddness of the masses and search out quieter alternative compositions .

Until next time , keep it real !
