This series of blogs is based around pictures from my archive , I hope the words that accompany the featured pictures offer a level of context , insight and inspiration to readers .
“The Foto What I Took” blog title , is a comedy reference “borrowed" / inspired” by the Morcambe and Wise “The Play What I Wrote“ sketch …
This is the first picture from what became my Blue Frames Project and I’m not sure I ever bettered it within the series , which is a bit of a bummer when I look back and realise that the project was in decline from day one , not because its a series of bad pictures but because I got very lucky, very quickly , within minutes of buying the Blue Framed Mirror from my local charity shop this pic was in the bag !
The Blue Frames Project was intended to be a conceptual project but between buying the mirror and getting it back to my car I captured this view , all of the other pics in the series are conceptual , this pic happened before any meaningful conceptual thought had occurred !
Truth be told I was carrying a load of shopping and a bloody big mirror and I needed to rest , my get up and go had got up and gone !
I stood the mirror up against the wall of a local pub and became aware of the visual possibilities of this happy accident immediately , before too long the fragmented shadow of a passer-by and his reflected foot conspired to complete the composition , job done …
Despite carrying too much including a great big mirror my camera was still around my neck from a earlier shot , optimism or stupidity …
Better to be lucky than clever …
